Workshops on the restoration of Bosnian pine forests (Pinus heldreichii) in Montenegro

The Montenegrin Ecologists Society (MES) will organise an online workshop on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, starting at 10 AM, on the topic of Rehabilitation of burnt forest areas, with a special focus on the restoration of burnt Bosnian pine forests (Pinus heldreichii). The workshop will be led by Mr. Saša Eremija from the Forestry Institute in Belgrade.

This workshop is part of a series of events dedicated to understanding Bosnian pine forests in Montenegro and finding ways to comprehend, prevent, or mitigate patterns and consequences of severe degradation of these forests on our territory, most often caused by large fires ignited by humans.

Therefore, on September 17 and 18, 2022, CDE and the Environmental Protection Agency will organise a two-day workshop titled Restoration of munika forests, where Associate Professor Dr. Branislav Cvjetković from the Faculty of Forestry in Banja Luka will share experience and knowledge about Bosnian pine forests, focusing on the collection and treatment of its seeds, sowing, production of Bosnian pine seedlings, and planting in its natural habitats in the mountains of Montenegro.

If you are interested in participating in the workshops, we invite you to register by email at [email protected] or by phone at +382 68 048 388..

We are moving towards the restoration of Montenegro’s forests, starting with the very special Bosnian pine forests.

The workshops are organized within the project “From educating and connecting children with nature, through dendrochronological research, to raising awareness about climate changes in Montenegro over the past centuries,” co-funded by the European Union and the Government of Montenegro.
