Dear friends of nature,
We are proud to share with you that the Red List of Amphibians and Reptiles of Montenegro has been officially published! 🦎
This is a moment that marks our dedication and commitment to the conservation of these important groups of animals, and we are extremely proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to the creation of this valuable list.
Our organisation has been researching the world of reptiles and amphibians for a number of years, and the data we have been collecting for a decade, as well as our experience that has been formed in the meantime, and has been incorporated into this very important umbrella document for the conservation of the batrachians/herpetofauna of Montenegro.
The Red List is a key tool that helps identify species that are most at risk and guides conservation measures and policies. This list provides deep insights into the status of species and the threats affecting them, and also helps prioritise our conservation efforts.
We would like to express our gratitude to the Agencija za zaštitu životne sredine Crne Gore – Environmental Protection Agency of Montenegro for their cooperation and trust in us, including our recommendations in this important process.
In the photos are: the four-lined snake, the longest snake in Europe, which is recognised as a near-threatened species (NT) on the Red List, the endemic Prokletian rock lizard, which is recognised as an endangered species (EN) on this list, as well as the Balkan terrapin, which also has the status of endangered species (EN).
