On the occasion of World Rivers Day, the Montenegrin Ecologists Society organized a Regatta for the Zeta River<\/strong><\/em>, with the aim of drawing greater public attention to the protection and preservation of one of the most important rivers in central Montenegro.<\/p>\n\n

The regatta brought together around 80 participants from different parts of Montenegro, who paddled by kayak from Slap na Zeti to the center of Danilovgrad. During several hours spent on the water, participants had the opportunity to experience the Zeta River up close, while also sending a shared message that its future should concern the entire community.<\/p>\n\n

This year, we dedicated the celebration of World Rivers Day specifically to the Zeta River because it is facing increasing pressures, pollution and urban development challenges. The aim of the gathering was to remind the public of its exceptional natural value, highlight the problems threatening it, and once again emphasize how important joint action, responsibility and citizen involvement are for its preservation.<\/p>\n\n

After the river descent, the gathering continued at the amphitheater beneath the bridge in the center of Danilovgrad. Participants enjoyed a live performance by Danilovgrad musician Igor Mitrovi\u0107, as well as refreshments prepared with local, homemade products. It was a fitting end to a day that brought together people of different generations around the same idea: that a river is not just water passing through an area, but part of our valuable shared natural heritage that we all have a responsibility to protect.<\/p>\n\n

The Zeta is more than just a river, she is the lifeblood of the Bjelopavli\u0107i Plain: nourishing its fields for centuries, shaping its landscape and preserving an important part of the identity of the people who live along its banks.<\/p>\n\n

We would like to thank everyone who joined us, those who brought their own equipment, as well as all participants, partners and friends who contributed to the successful organization of this event, especially: Kayaktive, Camp \u0106uk, Kayak Zeta Zagorak, Balkan Expeditions, Solutions4you and citizen initiative River Zeta.<\/p>\n\n

By gathering on the Zeta River, we wanted to show that what happens to our rivers matters to us. Eighty people on the water may represent just one day and one event, but it also shows how strong a community can be when it comes together around something it wants to protect.<\/p>\n\n

Regatta on the Zeta River was organised to mark World Rivers Day<\/strong><\/em>, as a contribution to the regional \u201cSave the Blue Heart of Europe\u201d campaign.<\/p><\/p>\n\n
