We continue the story of tree rings \u2014 nature\u2019s way of writing a biography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, we are spending our days at the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade, where we are learning from dendrochronology experts how to properly prepare the samples we collected this summer on Mount Prekornica, and how to read the forest diaries hidden in tree rings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re still learning, but we already know that centuries-old Bosnian pines grow on Prekornica, and we are about to learn what they\u2019ve recorded about the changes in environmental conditions over the past few hundred years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our first steps in dendrochronology have been made possible with the support of the European Union and the Government of Montenegro, through co-funding of the project \u201cFrom educating and connecting children with nature, through dendrochronological research, to raising awareness of climate change over the past few centuries in Montenegro!\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n
